Dorset Creative Employment Programme
Apprenticeship and Internship Grants for Creative Businesses
Employment grants are available to Dorset creative businesses including museums and libraries, employing 16-24 year old young people on Job Seekers Allowance or registered unemployed; they must be paid National Minimum Wage (interns) or National Apprentice Minimum Wage (apprentices) – see Dorset Creative Employment Programme Grants for Interns and Apps for full costs.
Grants are payable after a young person has been in post for 13 weeks. Posts can be shared across organisations with one lead employer. Apprentices may follow creative pathways (tech theatre, jewellery, culture and heritage, digital media, live events and promotion, community arts) or more generic pathways including business & admin, ICT, education and training – whatever your business requires.
Recruitment and Advertising
Interns are advertised through Department of Work & Pensions and local Job Centre and your own networks. Apprentices are recruited through National Apprenticeship Service (NAS) College Service and Job Centre Plus and your own networks
For Apprentices the college arranges contract between the young person, the college and the employer; the apprentice is employed by the business. Interns have employment contract with each business (as per other employees).
